Festivo

There are two weeks in august, when different places in
and around Aschau becoming home for the Festivo, a festival
for chamber music. International musicians are playing for
example in the Preysingsall (ballroom) of castle Hohenaschau,
or the Högermühle, a old mill in Aschau. It is really worth to
visit one of the atmospheric concerts. Just one problem: you
have to book quite early!

Castle Herrenchiemsee

Here you can admire the barely used chambers of  bavarian King Ludwig
and have a beautiful walk through the castels and over the island. A visit
of the monestery Augustiner Chorherrenstift is also very worthwhile.

Fraueninsel

Not less interesting ist the idyllic Fraueninsel, with approx. 300 inhabitants
one of Bavarias smallest municipalities. Important sights are the 9th
century entrance hall and die Michaelis-chappel with its campanile, both
influenced by the benedictine monestery. Having seen everything, one can
relax while having freshly smoked fish at of one of
the islands smoke-
houses or, slighly more genuine, at the "Linde", one of Bavarias oldest taverns.
