Herrenchiemsee

The Herreninsel is by far the largest of the three islands situated in Chiemsee. In the Herrenchiemsee Castle you can view the barely used chambers of King Ludwig, the eccentric Bavarian monarch. A walk through the castle grounds or a visit to the Augustiner monastry are also worthwhile. Horse-drawn carriage rides, guided tours and event rooms for festivities are also available.

Fraueninsel

The idyllic Fraueninsel is one of the smallest Bavarian communities with approx. 300 inhabitants. The Benedictine Abbey, the Gatehouse and the Michaeliskapelle chapel with its campanile are just some of the impressive sights. After a tour of the island you can relax in one of the island’s smokehouses or guesthouses and sample freshly smoked Chiemsee fish.
